Since single parent finances are often tight, single parents are often looking for ways to save money. One tip is get a 50-50 mindset. Learn how this way of thinking can save you big bucks.
The 50-50 mindset involves using only fifty percent of a favorite product. For example, you could mix 50 percent of a cheap brand into your favorite brand to stretch the flavor.
Sauces can be easily stretched this way. You may find that mixing a cheap brand of hot sauce in with your Tabasco results in a sauce that tastes just like Tabasco. Ditto for ketchup and many other condiments.
Breakfast cereal is another item that can often be mixed with good results. You may want to start at less than fifty percent of the namebrand cereal versus generic until you find the percentage where you can detect the generic part.
Cat litter is another candidate for mixing if you use the clumping litter. Try mixing some regular clay litter in with the premium litter. It will often still clump. Again, you may have to experiment to find the optimum amount of regular litter to use.
Paper towels rolls can be cut in half so that you use fewer towels. Or, some brands are actually perforated at the half sheets so you don’t have to manually cut the rolls.
Facial tissue can also be cut in half. After all, the pocket size are tiny and still do the job, so often you don’t need a full-size tissue.
Laundry sheets are another candidate for cutting in half. The smaller sheets deal with the static although your laundry may not be quite as scented.
Once you start thinking in the 50-50 mindset, you will inevitably find even more ideas for stretching your dollars and helping your single parent finances while still getting the benefits of your favorite products.
