If you are not attracted to the person you are dating, should you continue to see him or her? Although this can be a complicated question, you may want to continue the relationship for several reasons.

Unfortunately, sometimes people seek someone exciting and for other shallow qualities. Consider the other qualities of the person. How do they treat you? Do they like your kids? Are you comfortable when around this person and able to discuss personal issues with him or her? Decide what qualities are most important to you and whether this person displays all of them. You may find that looks are not as important to you as you originally thought.

Maybe you are still carrying a flame for a prior significant other. If this is the case, every person you date may come up short when compared to your past relationship. If you truly want another relationship, you need to stop the comparisons and take each relationship at face value. You may find yourself forgetting about your prior love as you your relationship deepens with someone else.

If this person has many positive qualities, consider going slowly and giving the relationship some time. Of course, if you see traits that continually frustrate you or if the person is so unattractive that you cannot conceive of ever being with them, then this is not the right person for you. Do not forgo a possible great relationship just because you do not feel immediate chemistry.
